Concord River
Got to the river at 8 AM. The boat ramp on Lowell Rd. was deserted. A light wind from the southwest added to the warm temperatures. The high today was 91 F. I went downriver to fish primarily below the North Bridge.
I do fish this section sometimes from shore and had turned one or two nice bass. There is a riffle below the North Bridge. The southwest wind was at my back pushing my solo canoe at a steady clip. As I rounded the corner to the Manse house, I flipped a green Yamamoto worm against the bank. An explosion erupted. I thought I had hooked a carp. The fish suddenly disappeared underneath a log jam. Fortunately, the braid did not break. When I finally got the smallmouth to the boat, it was 19 inches and an honest 4 lbs.
Nice job! - I recently pulled a 4.15lber out of the Concord more towards Bedford recently. Hit or miss here, but when you hit them - they are good!
